The Program

At Rising Tides, our terms run in 10-week blocks. These blocks give us the opportunity to pace the sessions effectively, build progression, and also allow natural breaks between terms.

🔹 First Term – Orientation & Exploration
The first term is all about discovery. Kids will:

  • Try different instruments and explore the various rooms

  • Jam together and swap groups to play with different people

  • Experiment with styles and songwriting

  • Build confidence and have fun while we get to know their musical tastes and strength.

  • Develop friendships

This term is deliberately more fluid. It allows us as tutors to see how the group connects, which helps us form the set bands in Term Two. There isn’t an end-of-term show in Term One – instead, the big performance happens at the end of Term Two, along with a chance to make recordings.

🔹 Second Term – Bands & Performance
By Term Two, the groups will be more settled. The kids will be placed into set bands and work towards a live end-of-term show, giving them the full band experience. They will also be able record in the studio to develop much needed experience for the real world of being a musician.

🔹 Continuing the Journey
We encourage kids to continue on through multiple terms for the richest experience, but participation is always flexible. Based on our experience from a previous programme we ran, many stay with us long-term, moving into older groups as they grow, and we’re thrilled to be developing further opportunities, including a full music tuition school (launching before Christmas) and artist development pathways for our older students.

Our mission is simple: to build a thriving community of young musicians, showcasing the talent Wirral has to offer in a positive, encouraging atmosphere.
